Song: “The Family of God”

By Bill Gaither

For I’m part of the family, the family of God.

(1) You will notice we say “brother and sister” ’round here-
It’s because we’re a family
and these folks are so near;
When one has a heartache
we all share the tears,
And rejoice in each victory
In this family so dear.

CHORUS

I’m so glad I’m a part
of the family of God-
I’ve been washed in the fountain,
cleansed by His blood!
Joint heirs with Jesus
as we travel this sod,
For I’m part of the family,
the family of God.

(2) From the door of an orphanage
to the house of the King-
No longer an outcast,
a new song I sing;
From rags unto riches,
from the weak to the strong,
I’m not worthy to be here,
But, praise God, I belong!

CHORUS

Yes I’m part of the family, the family of God.

VERSE:  Galatians 3:26, “For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.”

These are trying times in which we are living.  The struggles and demands of life are leaving some of us isolated and feeling alone.  Too much time dwelling on what is wrong will dampen our spirits and steal our joy.  This is exactly what the devil is trying to do to each one of us.  He is trying to make us discouraged and feel all alone.  But the truth is that we are never alone.  As believers in Jesus, we are family through our faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.  Since we are family that means that every believer with whom we come in contact with is our family.  Since they are family we are loved.  Yes, you might not get to see your blood family, but Jesus is placing your Christian brothers and sisters all around you.  Remember Jesus loves you.  You are loved.

Prayer:  Jesus thank you for never leaving me and always providing for my needs.  Fill my heart with Your presence and give me eyes to see the family You have given me.  In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

*Sunday and Wednesday encouragements are written for our friends in Assisted Living, who we are unable to see regularly, due to COVID. We pray they are a blessing for you as well!
