Song: “Happiness Is the Lord”
Ira Stanphill

Happiness is to know the Saviour,
Living a life within His favour,
Having a change in my behaviour,
Happiness is the Lord.

Happiness is a new creation,
Jesus and me in close relation,
Having a part in His salvation,
Happiness is the Lord.

Refrain

Real joy is mine,
No matter if the teardrops start,
I’ve found a secret,
It’s Jesus in my heart.

Happiness is to be forgiven,
Living a life that’s worth the livin’,
Taking a try that leads to Heaven,
Happiness is the Lord.

Refrain

Happiness is to be forgiven,
Living a life that’s worth the livin’,
Taking a trip that leads to Heaven,
Happiness is the Lord,
Happiness is the Lord,
Happiness is the Lord.

VERSE:  Proverbs 25:11, “A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver”

The imagery this verse brings to mind is simply beautiful. I see a picture of beautiful apples framed in silver with light glistening from every angle.  I believe that is exactly what a child of God whose words are soothing, gentle, uplifting and kind looks like as well.  I believe that every word you speak creates an image that people see. I believe that when we are kind with our words and the result of our words bring peace and comfort that we are painting a beautiful picture for others to see even when we aren’t in their presence.  The Bible is clear that our words matter and that they leave a lasting impression.  However, often we forget that and we don’t police our words. We just say what comes to mind.  But this verse explains that our words are, indeed, powerful, lasting and important.  Choose your words wisely!  Remember Jesus loves you.  You are loved.

Prayer:  Lord help me to guard my tongue and to choose my words wisely.  Fill my lips with words that will encourage and uplift others.  Help me to be a positive presence in this dark and sinful world.  Use me to show others who you are.  In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

*Sunday and Wednesday encouragements are written for our friends in Assisted Living, who we are unable to see regularly, due to COVID. We pray they are a blessing for you as well!
