Song: “Rock of Ages”
Augustus M. Toplady

Rock of Ages, cleft for me,
Let me hide myself in Thee;
Let the water and the blood,
From Thy wounded side which flowed,

Be of sin the double cure,
Save from wrath and make me pure.
While I draw this fleeting breath,
When my eyes shall close in death,

When I rise to worlds unknown,
And behold Thee on Thy throne,
Rock of Ages, cleft for me,
Let me hide myself in Thee.

VERSE:  Psalm 91:1-2—“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress:  my God; in Him will I put my trust.”

When we abide in the secret place of the most high we are safe from the sting of this world’s troubles and trials.  We may still face them but we will be fully covered by Jesus.  And I am assured that He will protect me.  God’s covering isn’t like a one size fits all shirt.  No, it is fully customized to fit you perfectly.  God is very personal and this verse offers our hearts full assurance that God is protecting us and will not let anything come unto us that has not first passed through Him.  That means that His nail scarred hands, so symbolic of the love He has for us, aren’t going to let anything come our way that he has not allowed, buffeted and equipped us to handle.   Jesus loves you.  You are loved.

Prayer:  Lord, help me to realize that nothing is going to happen to me today that you are not going to handle.  Help me to remember that you are still in control and that you are working all things out for my good.  Lord teach me to trust you in all things.  Give me the joy and peace that comes from living under your shadow.  Speak peace to my heart and fill me with your joy.   In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

*Sunday and Wednesday encouragements are written for our friends in Assisted Living, who we are unable to see regularly, due to COVID. We pray they are a blessing for you as well!
