God is on the Throne

I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne was like the fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire (Daniel 7:9).

These are troublesome times in which we live. Governments rise and fall. Nature seems to be out of control. The economy has a strong hold on many people. Everywhere you turn there is unrest, stress an chaos. That is everywhere you turn except for when you turn to God.

I John 4:18 proclaims, “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.” I have read this scripture countless times and have found much comfort in it. But, perhaps, never any more comfort than I find in it today. During these times of uncertainty, it is imperative that we hold to something true, real and solid. It is of utmost importance that we cling to God. In doing so, I have found He is always more than I need and all that I need. It never ceases to amaze me where and how His love pops up in every situation in my life. His love is powerful and complete. In it I have perfect peace, even during these difficult times.

Let’s take a look at the prophet Daniel’s words in the book of Daniel. Nearly everyone who has spent any length of time in church is aware of the stories in the opening chapter of Daniel. In the early part of Daniel we see that Daniel and his friends refuse to eat of the Royal Menu. This signifies that their sustenance, strength and help came from Him. Then in chapter 3 we see where the three Hebrew children were thrown into the fiery furnace for refusing to bow to a graven image. In chapter 5 we see where Daniel interprets the handwriting on the wall and foretells of the fall of Babylon. In chapter 6 we see where Daniel is thrown into the lion’s den for refusing to stop praying just to spend a quiet night of rest without harm or worry. Then we see the prophet Daniel open up chapter Seven with a vision of the apocalypse-end times and the future. Have you ever wondered why these amazing events of faith preceded Daniel’s vision of the future reign of Christ and the destruction of the world? Honestly for years I have viewed these as individual accounts of faith, dedication and service without ever connecting the dots. But, this time the Holy Spirit revealed something to me that nearly made me jump out of my skin. All of these amazing accounts of faith were placed perfectly in the chapters preceding the prophecy of the end times so that I could have the faith to fully understand that no matter what the circumstances, my God will deliver!

It seems so clear to me as Daniel opens up the seventh chapter of the book of Daniel. We see beasts who display themselves as having power and who depict world governments who claim authority and prominence only to find them powerless and defeated. It is our God, the one true God that sits in authority and power on the throne administering judgment and in full control. What love God has for us to equip us, show us and guide us step by step to a place of faith that allows us to grasp the truth that our God, our Saviour and He alone is in complete control. He will continue to deliver us and all the Governments of every land can make their laws, administer their policies and pretend to manage the people but the truth will remain, that God and God alone is on the throne and He is in control!!
