John 14:26

John 14:26

One of my favorite passages in the entire Bible is John 14. It truly contains so many invaluable messages in it – I just love it so much. Every thought in this chapter speaks to my heart, and I’m sure yours too. In Chapter 14, Jesus is talking with his disciples about many things. They, no doubt, had numerous questions they continually wanted to ask Him for He was their Savior and they loved Him so much. And He was right there physically with Him in their everyday lives.

But God is such an all-knowing God that He sent Jesus, who was 100 percent God and 100 percent man, to communicate to the disciples and all of His followers, the very things they needed to hear in order to understand the wonderful power and Will of God.

For us today, our Christian walks can be summed up in this passage also. There are so many nuggets of truth in this chapter that I think it should be studied very slowly, and each main thought be digested in an appropriate length of time that you realize the fullness of Jesus’ words and what they mean for you. So, for today, I would like for us to focus on verse 26:

“But the Comforter, [which is] the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name,

he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have

said unto you.”

The four gospels are full and overflowing with the Lord’s instructions, explanations and wisdom through the Lord Jesus Christ. The people of that time were so blessed to have had the opportunity to physically meet and interact with Him. They could physically see Him, worship with Him, and even dine with Him. They were so blessed. And for us who are living in the present, we, of course, are equally as blessed as we have God in our hearts, can look to Jesus’ words via our Bibles, and have the Holy Spirit with us to guide us through each and every day. In addition to the four gospels, the entire Bible itself contains so much information that we could really never learn and grasp on to every concept it provides simply because our very human minds are just that – they’re human! However, when we are diligent in growing our personal relationships with God by studying His Word, Jesus has promised in John 14:26 that the Holy Spirit is with us in order to remind us of the most true words we’ll ever know. Isn’t it exciting and wonderful to know that we are never alone in our Bible study! We truly aren’t, and as everything with God, we need to be the very best servants we can be for Him. We need to give God our all by allowing the written Word to enhance our lives and help us to grow in our walks with the Lord. But always remember that by giving God your all – especially in studying – you will have the Holy Spirit by your side, helping you recall everything you know to be true in Christ Jesus!

I encourage you to take this week to study your Bible more. II Timothy 2:15 says, “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” Delve into His Word like never before, and watch how the Holy Spirit works in every situation you face. It’ll be amazing!
