This week's memory
verse:
|
Why we memorize scripture:
Psalms 119:11:Thy
word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against
thee.
The Bible is God's love letter to us from Genesis
to Revelation. Over and over within its pages we are told of His
marvelous love for us. Repeatedly, we see His promises to us that
bring us prosperity, peace and joy. Found within the pages of God's
Holy Word, the Bible we are given instructions for life and the
recipe for a life more abundant. In John 10:10 Jesus said, " The
thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy:
I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it
more abundantly. " In order to enjoy this abundant life we
must first accept Christ as Saviour and then we must build a relationship
with the God of the Universe. As we read His marvelous Word we
will surely get to know Him and life will take on new meaning.
As troubles come our way and satan knocks on our door we are reminded
of the loving, protecting hand of God that is revealed to us through
His word. It is for this reason that God gave us the above scripture.
If we hide His Word in our heart then we are equipped to defeat
the devil right in his tracks. He can not defeat us because " Ye
are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater
is He that is in you, than he that is in the world." (I John
4:4). Therefore, we must saturate our mind and heart with the Word
of God that it may be brought to our remembrance when we have need
of it.
